Two 12-year old girls, S. Manickavasuki (St. Joseph's School, Maraimalai Nagar) and J. Sandhya (Presidency School, Egmore) achieved the feat of completing the race.
Mr. Thambidurai, Education Minister, Mr. Venugopal, head of Marketing, Bharthi Telenet, Mr. V. S. Pradeep, Medimix gave away the prizes. Earlier Mr. W. I. Dewaram, earlier President TNAAA and Mrs. Shiny Wilson, ex Olympian, flagged off the men's and womens races respectively.

Bharthi Telenet was the Main Sponsor for the Chennai Marathon.
